I've been taking tangents away from books lately, but my attention span has been compromised.
One of the things I do to give my brain a break is take walks and try to take pictures of things. I have no talent or instinct for photography--I struggle with the light, with the framing, with my own shaky hands. I wouldn't even experiment if I hadn't gone digital--the cost and the chemicals going into all that wasted effort would be too depressing.
Because I have struggled so much with close-ups, in particular, I was initially pleased with this shot:
But it's just a freaking poppy. Whoop-tee-doo. Who wants to look at a picture of a flower? It's kind of pointless.
So, anyway, here's where the reading comes in: I've been enjoying blogs that write up the ways and means of how photography works. I've been very enamoured with phone with a cord and The Year In Pictures, in particular.
