Scoldy
It's the end of the semester, and my usual spring insomnia seems to be kicking in, and most of the things I've been writing have been veering towards gibberish. So I am providing a photograph of the really, really aggressive little red squirrel who sets up shop in the black walnut tree in the backyard. Nothing to do with books. In fact, I can't even think of a book that prominently features a squirrel. Or a raccoon. Hmmm.

I know people who live with squirrels don't like them much, but those of us in the Sonoran Desert (where we only have ground squirrels) really think they're cute. Sorry. http://blog.sweetservices.com/sweetscandyblog/
ReplyDeleteSome people do mind the squirrels, but they're still kind of a novelty for me--you don't see them much out in rural areas like the one I grew up in.
ReplyDeleteThis squirrel--Scoldy--isn't aggressive towards us, but towards the bigger black and grey squirrels who try to take black walnuts from the tree. He spends half the day taking runs at them and chittering.
What's less than ideal is that he's literally chewed holes through the wooden siding of that shed (hole not pictured).
